EXTENDED FAMILY CARE SUPPORTS EVENING OF RESPITE
Cheryl Nemanic, Administrator and Bobbi Wielock, Coordinator, represented Extended Family Care at the Annual Respite Resource Fair on September 22, 2014 in Swissvale, Pennsylvania. The Alliance for Community Respite Care (ACRC) of Community Living and Support Services (CLASS) sponsored the free event which was open to the public and attracted almost 50 community members and professionals. The evening’s Keynote Speaker, Amy Marcinkiewicz, WPXI Reporter, shared her heart-felt, personal experiences and spoke about the importance of Respite Care when caring for a loved one. Government updates, panel discussions, and additional community respite resources were also presented to the group.
It is the mission of ACRC “to provide support and relief through access to respite care for caregivers and children and adults of all ages with special needs”. ACRC was founded in 1997 but merged with CLASS in 2010 to better meet the needs of the community. It is a collaborative network of families, providers, and stakeholders dedicated to educating the community about the need for respite care and providing resources to enable individuals to obtain access to such care. Extended Family Care has proudly supported ACRC and has maintained an active role on the ACRC of CLASS Advisory Board since 2009.
Extended Family Care is a premier respite provider for clients of all ages in the Pittsburgh, Allentown and Lancaster areas of Pennsylvania. Skilled and non-medical services are also provided throughout Pennsylvania, Florida, New York and Ohio.
