Home Care in Pittsburgh PA
According to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank 12.9% of the population of Southwestern Pennsylvania suffers from food insecurity. Historically, most food bank donations occur before Thanksgiving. Therefore, together with the Management Company of Penn Center, Extended Family Care hopes to bring the community’s generosity to those less fortunate by assisting the local collection sites with their efforts to replenish their pantries before the Christmas season.
Extended Family Care is working with the North Hills Community Outreach Center to assist them in restocking their food pantries after the Thanksgiving holiday. Beginning November 28, 2016 food collections will take place in Penn Center. Two drop off locations will be open to the public Monday-Friday each week until Christmas. Collection boxes are located at Extended Family Care in Building 2 Suite 220 (above Rite Aid) and in the Management Office in REC33. Hours of collection will be from 8:00am-4:30pm each business day.
Recommended items include non-perishables such as canned goods, dry cereals, pasta, sauces, toiletries, paper products, etc. Lists are being distributed throughout the offices in the complex as well as posting in REC33 and outside Extended Family Care’s office in hope to gain more community support.
